Lab and Resource Scheduler
Lab and Resource Scheduler (LARS) is web-based booking software that Ignyte Software built and runs for schools and other organizations. Users reserve labs, rooms, and shared equipment such as cameras and projectors, and administrators set the booking rules for each resource. It is our longest-running commercial product: we have built and supported it since 2005, and more than 270 schools and other organizations have signed up.

What It Does
- Unlimited resources and categories: computer labs, rooms, cameras, projectors, or anything else people share
- Timeslot or block scheduling, chosen separately for each resource
- Blackout times for every resource at once or for one resource
- Booking limits per resource: how far ahead it can be booked, how many consecutive timeslots in a day, and how many consecutive days for one user
- Email to users and administrators when a resource is booked or released
- Messages between users and administrators inside the system
- Reports on bookings, resource use, and user activity
- A public ideas board where customers suggest and vote on new features
Who Uses It
In October 2026 the LARS homepage counted more than 38,000 user accounts, 270 organizations, and 3,000 bookable resources. Schools that joined since 2023 include Conner Middle School in Kentucky; Shiloh Middle School, River Ridge Elementary School, Blue Ridge Elementary School, and Briarwood Academy in Georgia; Hinsdale Central High School in Illinois; and Journey Middle School in Alabama.
From Desktop App to the Web
LARS began as a Windows desktop application that stored its data in a Microsoft Access database. Download sites list version 1.0 from Ignyte Software in October 2005. We later rebuilt it as a hosted web application, and the current release is LARS 3.5.
We still ship updates. Release 2022.1 fixed resource deletion. Release 2023.1 added a user filter for administrators and a way to open a resource to every user without assigning each one. A December 2025 release fixed a daylight saving time bug that showed some earlier bookings at the wrong time on the calendar.
Next, we are moving LARS from ASP.NET Web Forms to Blazor on .NET 10. It is the same upgrade we plan for clients whose Web Forms systems still run the business.
